Career Planning: Start Today!!

middle school career exploration

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."

~Eleanor Roosevelt~

Research has identified middle school as a time when students can benefit from career exploration, a process of building self-awareness, learning about potential careers, and developing a plan for reaching future goals. Career exploration engages middle school students at a time when they are at a higher risk for disengaging from learning due to challenges in forming identity, coping with puberty and navigating new environments.  To help our students stay engaged and plan for their futures, we provide the middle school students with educational experiences that match their stage of intellectual and social-emotional development.

The Alabama State Department of Education provides the Alabama Career Planning System for career exploration and the Alabama Success Guides that outline and explain all 16 possible career clusters. These tools will be utilized to assist in Four Year Planning for your student's high school career.
