Treutel, William

Hello, my name is William Treutel. I teach US History (10 th grade advanced, 11 th grade regular, and AP),
Psychology, and Spanish. I grew up in Mobile, attended Auburn University for a BA and MA in History.
After a short sojourn in southern Mississippi, I went to work in manufacturing in north Alabama for 15
years. I eventually went back to college (UAB) for a degree in education. I taught for a number of years
in Pinson (just north of Birmingham). I moved back to the area in 2017 and taught at Monroe County
High School for ¾ of a year before moving to Vigor High School where I taught for the next five years.
This is my second year here at CHS as a teacher and soccer coach.
I have been married to Rita Treutel for over 35 years. We have three grown children, Philip, Andrew, and
Sarah Beth, two of whom are pursuing graduate degrees (Sarah Beth: Social Work at Southern Miss and
Andrew: Cybersecurity at South Alabama). Philip lives with his wife in Raleigh, North Carolina.
