The Chickasaw High School Chapter of the National Honor Society is a duly chartered and affiliated chapter of the National Honor Society.
Membership is open to students who meet the required standards in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Students are selected by a majority vote of a five-member Faculty Council appointed annually by the principal. The chapter adviser, Mr. Zachary Gotlib, is also appointed by the principal and facilitates the selection procedures and chapter activities.
Students in grades ten through twelve are eligible for membership. For the scholarship criterion, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Students who meet this requirement may be invited to complete an application describing their leadership experience and service to the school or community.
To evaluate character, the Faculty Council reviews official disciplinary records and requests professional input from faculty members. Faculty members provide reflections on each candidate’s service, character, citizenship, and leadership.
The Faculty Council reviews the candidate forms, faculty input, and relevant school records. A majority vote is required for selection. Following review by the principal, candidates are notified of the decision.
Selected candidates become members after participating in the chapter’s formal induction ceremony. Members must continue to meet the standards that resulted in their selection, attend monthly meetings, and participate in chapter service projects.
Questions about the selection process or membership obligations may be directed to Mr. Gotlib by email at zgotlib@chickasawschools.com.

Violations of law or school regulations may result in immediate consideration for dismissal. Repeated violations of the school conduct code may also result in dismissal proceedings.
In cases of possible dismissal:
The Faculty Council may consider disciplinary action other than dismissal when appropriate.
These bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the chapter, provided the proposed amendment has been submitted to the membership at least one month before the vote.
